Dear Russulales friends,
We would like to announce that the next Russulales workshop will take place in Jaca (Aragón, Huesca, Spain) a city in the vicinity of the Pyrenees in the NE of the Iberian Peninsula. Jaca is a city where The Mycological Congress of the Pyrenees has been organized since 2006 by the local mycological society “La Usonera”. The 8th edition of that congress will be held in Jaca right after the Russulales workshop. Jaca offers excellent facilities to host mycological meetings like our Russulales workshop, and it is situated in a highly diverse area, in the boundary between the montane, temperate and Mediterranean climates. Within one hour driving distance from Jaca, there are forests with Abies alba, Fagus sylvatica and Pinus sylvestris and Pinus hapalensis, but also Mediterranean oak trees like Quercus faginea and Quercus rotundifolia. Biological diversity of the area is also boosted by local geological diversity with limestones, granits, sandstones or schists.
